Quote by beyondmeasureI'm a former Roman Catholic.

The piliing evidence against God's existence, the brutality of most of God's laws, and the brutal application of those laws.

Hey beyondmeausre,

Any sites for recommended reading on the topic?

Thanks

Which of them: the evidence against God's existence or the brutality of most of God's laws and their subsequent brutal applcation?

Or both?

In any case, I'd recommend Christopher Hitchen's god is not great and Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion as a good start (if only because they're the only ones I've read when it comes to atheism).

Quote by SulibresThanks for that.

I am looking for both to be honest, and websites would certainly be useful.

There are websites mentioned on the back of Dawkins' book. A particularly interesting website is The-Brights.net (not sure of the spelling here), a website that aims to rebrand us atheists with the name "Bright". Methinks it is a fantastic move, and Dawkins and the philosopher Daniel Dennett have signed up. Problem is, there are people who think of it whole enterprise as too arrogant.

Quote by beyondmeasureThe will of the world versus the will of the individual.

Who shall win?

The individual - of course.

What a retarded way of thinking, can't believe this. If things were to go this way, the rest of us would be screwed. I think the people that mattered to those people are close enough to understand why, if they didn't already see it coming.

I said here - and I had hoped it was understandable -

that if someone is involved in a romantic relationship with the same sex,

people who don't agree to such a relationship on grounds of sex ONLY

should step aside

and walk away.

Really.

They say

they care?

Rubbish!

They care - alright -

FOR THEMSELVES!

Quote by beyondmeasure[qu(...) is a great example of the kind of quality artwork that can be produced with time and commitment. From the shading of the colors in the mermaids tail to the sunshine rays, windyroller has clearly demonstrated how talented she is with markers. If you haven't done so already, this is definitely an artist to add to your watchlist!

I will! I will!

Lol. Thank you for the watch, fav, and comment! XD

Much obliged!

I cannot make any artworks, you see, and the only way I could ever (even partly) make up for this is to fav every good - or GREAT - wallpaper, doujinshi, or scan that I see.

So, a good day!

Hope you enjoyed my last post here, Sherry.

Now, since you still post the most idiotic, senseless posts I've ever seen, I shall post questions here. Just to bother you, for starters.

But to make you modify your ill-suited thinking, that is my objective. I see the beginnings of a Christian theologian and apologist in you, but your fundamentalist leanings are keeping you from knowing other truths.

From that, I begin:

1. You do know that there are many religious denominations in the world, right? All of these religions contest that their God is real due to so-and-so, that others were shams due to so-and-so.

Tell me, then, supposing that each of these religions has a corresponding hell, and the penalty of believing in the wrong religion is a send-off to the true hell, how sure are you that you are a member of a religion that is true?

2. I suppose that the Christian concept of God is one of omnipotence, omniscience, and benevolence, right? Then, a few queries:

a. Can an omnipotent God create a stone so heavy that he cannot lift it?

b. The Christian god is defined as a personal being who knows everything. According to Christians, personal beings have free will.
In order to have free will, you must have more than one option, each of which is avoidable. This means that before you make a choice, there must be a state of uncertainty during a period of potential: you cannot know the future. Even if you think you can predict your decision, if you claim to have free will, you must admit the potential (if not the desire) to change your mind before the decision is final.
A being who knows everything can have no "state of uncertainty." It knows its choices in advance. A being that knows its choices in advance has no potential to avoid its choices, and therefore lacks free will. Since a being that lacks free will is not a personal being, a personal being who knows everything cannot exist. Therefore, the Christian god does not exist.

c. How can evil exist in this world, if there is a benevolent God?

d. How can some organisms have suboptimal features - for example, our appendices - if God could create organisms that are optimal?

e. Why are there non-believers, if God is benevolent?

Please answer as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Is this The Truth?

Yes and No.

Eye is like the mirror of our heart. It reflects our emotions directly or indirectly. I guess that's the truth. :D

Well, cutting my philosophizing, it's still a great minimalist work.

Quote by Sandman1I See your a Major kingdom Hearts Fan So am I Hope they Make a # 3 I'll Even buy Playstation 3 Just to Play it. Ps thanks for the post on the Cardcaptor Scan. I know it's Girlie But I don't mind it It's an Ok anime.

No, no, Sandman!

First, I'm not a fan of Kingdom Hearts - I haven't even seen it, yet!

And, I harbor hatred for Card Captor Sakura for deeper reasons - more than it's just a "girlie" anime. I'm all for high-quality anime, and CLAMP's works, while good artwise, don't really sell anything (with the probable exception of xxxholic).

I'm not exactly the partying kind (I'm a freaking loner, you know), or the drunken kind (I drank alcohol, yes, but I tend to be a little too violent).

Violent you say? hmm that sure can be a problem. I use to get WAY too glad for boys... ^_^' Have something ever happened while you were drinking since you might get a little violent?

Quote by beyondmeasure
... ah, the sex. Went through that when I was 15. Got myself with my girlfriend, did it. She died 7 months later, pregnant.

I'm terribly sorry the her that.. really.. You don't have to answer if you don't feel like it, but why did she die?

I'll answer these queries, since I feel like answering both, and since I have to get something accross - a message, maybe?

Just not in detail.

For the first, exposing me to a few shots of liquor leaves me in an extremely violent state - I trash property and lives. I hope you get the gist.

The second - a vehicular accident. I was with her when that happened. I got a few broken bones; she died from various internal injuries.

That's all.

Quote by alexjohnc3You're pretty young, aren't you. :P

May I add to that.

Young and wise. Heh.

I couldn't help but notice the brilliant replies and rebuttals against mireya92.

And - you're young. Pretty noticeable.

Or are you pretending to? (No offense.)

f

You've not been back, heh?

Good for us all.

One less (please continue).

He had been humbled, and yet he has not learned.
He thought himself a king of knowledge.

Oh, and have a good day. :)

I'll get this sigged. Soon.

Poor guy. But he deserved it.

And, yes, I'm laughing.

To priincess:

After seeing all the arguments you posted on the forums, ignoring the laws of logic and common sense, following the dictates of your over-loyalty to God -

I suggest you read some books on atheism.

Maybe you'll get some enlightenment on the flaws of your thought process.

Not just balther about "God is the source of all kindness, because it is said in the Bible" crap.

f

Really cute homepage you have here, chadakoon!

From what anime?

Hey, you're the one from AP!

And you're only 8?

Eeep! Ate pala kita!

Eh, why did you put in 8 as your age?

We have been graced - indeed, blessed! - with your appearance and your doujinshi.

We have not seen such mastery of the art since gaiJIN.

As such, may I hope you produce more magnificent artorks as you are presenting us now!

(And, yes, I will take the same route as fireflywishes took.)

Ah, Anakin-Skywalker.
The username that appears above me.
Member of Duelist-Chronicle.
Would you be so kind as to make your presence felt in that group?
It would be of a little help if another member, besides me a Chibi-Totchi, appear.

So, you're also a Filipino - and you've just joined 3 days ago?
Well then, welcome to Minitokyo!

Condolences.
